E911 (Enhanced 911) routes 911 calls to the right local dispatch center and provides them with your physical address. Every Hello Hotel phone number needs a verified emergency address on file before it can be used for 911 calls.
Why E911 Matters
If a guest or team member calls 911 from a Hello Hotel number, emergency dispatch needs to know where to send help. Without a verified address, 911 calls may be delayed, misrouted, or unable to provide location data.
Setting an E911 address is required by FCC regulations for any phone number used in the United States.
Setting an E911 Address
Go to Settings → Phone Numbers
Click the number you want to set an address for
Open the E911 Address section
Enter your property's physical address (street, city, state, ZIP)
Click Save
Hello Hotel validates the address through Telnyx in real time. You'll see one of three statuses:
Verified — the address passed validation and is active for 911 calls
Pending — validation is in progress (usually takes a few seconds)
Failed — the address didn't pass validation
If Validation Fails
If your address fails, Hello Hotel often suggests a corrected version (different ZIP+4, different street formatting, etc.). Click the suggestion to use it, or edit your entry and click Retry.
Common reasons for failure:
PO boxes are not valid 911 addresses. Use your physical street address.
Unit or suite numbers may need to be in a separate "unit" field, not the street line
New addresses may not yet be in the E911 database. Contact your local 911 office to register the address if it's brand new construction.
Viewing E911 Status Across All Numbers
Organization admins can see E911 status for every number in the org from the admin page. Open Settings → Organization → Phone Numbers to see at-a-glance status for each number.
Tips
Use the address where your team works, not your billing address. E911 routes to the address on file, not wherever your bill goes. If your team operates from a different location than your business HQ, set the operating location.
Update your E911 address if you move. Forgetting to update after a move means 911 calls would route to your old address. Add this to your moving checklist.
Each phone number can have its own address. If you have numbers at multiple properties, each one should have its own E911 address matching where it's actually used.
